4 Different Types of Motocross Events

If you are a beginner at motocross then you may be fooled into thinking that when it comes to motocross events you do not have many choices to choose from. But in fact motocross isn't just a simple motorbike race, there are many different types of events you can choose to take part in. Here are just four different types of motocross events to get you started.

Supercross Event

Generally a motocross event takes place in the outdoors, but a supercross race will take place indoors. An artificial dirt track will be used in places such as a large arena or stadium. A supercross race will also include the riders dodging obstacles or jumping over them. To take place in a supercross event you will have to use a specialist bike or one that has been modified so that it can handle larger jumps.

Supermoto Event

A supermoto race is one where the riders will have to race on the pavement or concrete as well as a dirt track. Riders will have to kit their motorbike out in a special type of tyre which consists of a groove so that their bike can handle riding on the dirt and the concrete.

Motocross Trials Event

A motocross trials event does not usually consist of the riders doing many tricks or stunts. Instead they will be racing against the clock, therefore they will concentrate more on speed than anything else. The winner of this type of motocross event is usually the rider who finishes the laps in the fastest posible time.

Freestyle Motocross Event

A freestyle motocross event concentrates more on the type of tricks and stunts the riders can perform rather than an actual race. Points will be given by judges to the riders who can do the most daring and sensational stunts with their motorbike.
